Call me eccentric, call me whatever you like. I'm tough. But at some point a couple years ago I grew very tired of the cyberworld's old sideways representation of a smiley face (generally to indicate: "just kidding" or "isn't that funny" in lieu of "lol"), so I rather inadvertantly came up with a new one, which I will use until my dying day unless they put a smiley key on the standard keyboard.
I was IM'ing with a friend of mine recently, when I used that joking symbol, and they asked me what that was. A little disappointed that it wasn't obviously a person with their head tilted back (not completely sideways like that other lame representation) I reflecting back to our misspent youth it dawned on me, it's the "Keep on Truckin'" guy, but I refer to it as one of his counterparts:

So this indirect reference spurned me into creating this page, and if in some small way I turn a new generation, or maybe just an inquitisive soul or two, onto the bizarre comic book genius or at least his "keep on truckin'" mentality, Zippy the Pinhead, Fritz the Cat or Zap Comix, then I am in some small way gratified. I do not condone drug use, around which much of it may have been centered, though R. Crumb himself reportedly did NOT use them, but I have learned that what the law considers "drugs" and what society thinks is "appropriate" is somewhat skewed and needs to be modified.
